Even though it always gets first billing, the “who” remains the most elusive of the five “W’s” of journalism.
At this point, the fraud story lurks around the edge of every aspect of life in Minnesota. Take, for example, this headline from Alpha News earlier this week,
Search warrants executed in Savage, Burnsville and Shakopee in connection to Edina shooting
Coincidentally, the Savage raid took place at an address Alpha News has reported on before.
“Reported on before”? In what context? From Alpha News,
Back in April, a neighbor spoke to Alpha News about his ongoing concerns involving the address with several high-end cars often parked on site. The home is tied to a Somali transportation and food service company.
Coincidentally, this Savage neighborhood happens to have formerly hosted a now-convicted Feeding Our Future fraudster.
To this date, we have no indication what connection, if any, the Savage address has to the Edina shooting or to anything to do with social services fraud.
Here is the original story, as reported by FOX-9 TV back in early July,
Edina shooting seriously injures victim, no suspect in custody
FOX 9 reported at the time,
Edina police say they responded to a reported shooting in the 7200 block of York Avenue South around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers then found one person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Fast forward to August 26 and Edina police announced,
Around 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, the Edina Police Department, along with other southwest metro SWAT teams, conducted multiple high-risk search warrants in Burnsville, Savage and Shakopee.
The Alpha News report on this week’s raid in Savage notes, “The neighbors said at least six people were taken into custody.”
It’s not clear that any charges have been filed against anyone. The name, age, gender, and condition of the July shooting victim remain unknown. As usual, the when and the where are fairly well established. They what and the why are far less clear. As usual, the who is a complete mystery.
