One of the DFL’s consistent themes this election cycle has been how badly Minnesota’s farmers are, apparently, doing under President Trump’s administration:

But one DFLer disagrees. Rep. Rick Hansen represents District 53B in the southeastern Twin Cities metropolitan area, which includes the cities of Newport, South St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Cottage Grove, and St. Paul Park, and parts of Dakota and Washington Counties. It says much about how the DFL has abandoned rural Minnesota — and been abandoned by it — that the party has had to make a representative from such a suburban area Co-Chair of the House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee.

In this capacity, Rep Hansen traveled to Farmfest last week and was struck by the opulence:

Of course, much of the talk of farm “troubles” has come from his own party. Perhaps he will correct them; his view seems to be, as the British Prime Minister Harold Macmillain once said, “You’ve never had it so good.”
