EXCLUSIVE: Former therapist slams ‘fraudulent autism centers’ in Minnesota, including one run by Flanagan’s ‘friend’
Peggy Flanagan said she’s been “friends for almost 25 years” with Nimco Ahmed. Now, DHS confirms an autism center operated by Ahmed is under investigation as a former employee of the center accuses it of being “fraudulent.”
You have seen Nimco Ahmed even if you did not know her name. She appears in that now infamous video of Lt. Gov. Flanagan’s visit to a Somali market in Minneapolis last December.

At the 6:08 mark of the video, Flanagan thanks Nimco Ahmed by name, and mentions their quarter-century-long friendship. Alpha News reports that Ahmed’s autism center is under investigation by the state Dept. of Human Services (DHS).

EXCLUSIVE: CEO of autism center under investigation was part of Klobuchar’s first Senate campaign:
Nimco Ahmed, the CEO of an autism center under state investigation, joined the “Klobuchar team” during Amy Klobuchar’s first Senate run, according to a 2006 profile.
Alpha News dug into Sen. Klobuchar’s campaign finance records and finds that Ahmed was a paid employee of that 2006 campaign run. More recent campaign finance records reveal money flowing in the other direction: several donations by Ahmed to Democratic candidates in recent years are listed under Ahmed’s name. Ahmed previously worked as a policy aide for the Minneapolis City Council, according to a LinkedIn account, which she lists as her employer for one of the political donations.
Back to the picture above. Lt. Gov. Flanagan appears in the middle. That’s Nimco Ahmed on the right. The man on the left appears to be Abdirizak Diis, someone with his own set of interesting connections.
I profiled Diis back in 2024, in advance of a then-upcoming Feeding Our Future courtroom trial. Diis’ name and banking records appear on prosecutors’ exhibit lists prepared for the trial, although he himself was never charged with any wrongdoing. Diis formerly served as Executive Director for the As-Sunnah Islamic Center during the period in which it participated in the free food program. His name also appears with several recent donations to Democratic campaigns.
Diis is a former Bush Fellow, journalist, and public high school teacher. That Diis and Ahmed would publicly endorse Flanagan’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate should come as no surprise.
And it will not surprise anyone that the site of that December 2025 Flanagan visit, the shopping mall itself, has been linked to the free-food scandal.
No, the surprising part is the tone-deafness of Flanagan and her advance team. Google the visit’s host, “Abdirizak Diis,” and my 2024 profile is the third item listed.
In an unsigned piece posted yesterday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune profiles Flanagan under the headline,

The Star Tribune quotes the Lt. Gov.,
More should’ve been done sooner, I think, and more should be done.
The governor was the one who took the lead on fraud. … I certainly was part of conversations, but I did not lead in this area of work.
More should’ve been done. But like the rest of us, Flanagan was just a spectator. Hey, wait a minute, isn’t she still in office? Why can’t more be done now? Why not call a special session of the legislature and get more done this week?
What, if anything, did Flanagan contribute to “conversations”?
The world may never know.
