Man arrested in connection to St. Louis Park Highway 100 shooting.
When I attended Edina’s “community conversation” on “gun violence” last week, this freeway shootout was listed among the recent gun-related disturbances.

The St. Louis Park Police Department said its officers responded to reports of a shooting near Highway 100 and Highway 7 at about 6 p.m. on Sept. 30.
Police say they found a man suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigators believe the shooting “appears to be between occupants of multiple vehicles,” according to the police department.
These rolling, car-to-car gun battles used to be a fixture of Interstate 94 through north Minneapolis. Now they’ve spread to the west.
Arrested yesterday, Abdisalan Muhumed Ali, age 19, has been formerly charged with two felony counts of drive-by shooting.
Ali is billed out of the suburb of Blaine, MN. He made his first court appearance today (October 15). He is being held on bail of $250,000.
According to the official police report, the sequence of events appears to have begun in a restaurant parking lot in Columbia Heights. Ali is alleged by police to be a gang member, and the driver/owner of the Suspect Vehicle, a 2025 Hyundai Sonata with tinted windows.
No word on the affiliation, if any, of the victim(s) in the incident. The Driver Victim in the case was struck by a bullet in the ankle from a shot fired through the door of his white Honda Accord. The Driver Victim states that he was traveling on Highway 100 en route to Minnetonka.
There was a third vehicle involved in the incident, a black Honda Pilot.
The police report states that the Driver Victim had also been a target in a February shooting incident in Burnsville.
Ali was pulled over back in June for the tinted windows on his Hyundai. A $275 court fine in that case remains unpaid. Court records list Ali’s home address in Blaine. Anoka County property records show that the house is valued at $535,000.

Ali’s next court hearing is scheduled for November 12.
