Today Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation President Tim Penny joined me at a Minnesota House Agriculture and Food Policy and Finance Division hearing in St. Paul. Penny spoke in favor of my bill that would appropriate $25,000 each year for grants to the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation so it can sponsor the “Feast! Local Foods Marketplace” event, which connects food producers and processors with potential customers. The bill was held over for possible inclusion in a comprehensive ag bill to be unveiled later this session.
