It’s a mystery rivaling The Ipcress File for pure suspense: what happened at Edina’s public pool last Saturday evening?
I’m told the incident kicked off with a half-dozen or so pool patrons refusing to leave at closing time, 7 p.m. That narrative is consistent with the known timeline of events, as recorded in court documents.
From that modest beginning, it quickly escalated into a neighborhood-wide dragnet to nab a 19-year-old man, Lannie Bush, with an outstanding warrant for missing a court hearing in Wright County. A K-9 from a neighboring city was brought in to assist.
We then had a 21-year-old woman, Tiana Hughes, booked into county jail on three (3) felony charges.

Hughes made her first court appearance in the case this afternoon, and Raguse reports that she has been formerly charged with the three felony counts. One relates to the alleged violation by her of a DANCO order.
The other two are for assaults that are alleged to have taken place at the nearby hospital. She is charged with hitting a police officer and breaking that officer’s cheekbone. Hughes is accused of biting a second officer.
Why, how, or when Hughes was transported from the pool to the hospital a few blocks away is still not known. Documents in the case have yet to be made accessible to the public.
At today’s hearing, her bail was reduced from $100,000 to $50,000, but county jail records indicate that she remains in custody.
Hughes is scheduled for a next court hearing on September 8.
