Rep. Sexton Calls for Relief from Rising Fuel Costs
St. Paul, MN — Rep. Tom Sexton, R-Waseca, has joined fellow House members in calling on Gov. Tim Walz to temporarily allow red-dyed diesel on Minnesota highways to help ease rising fuel costs for businesses and consumers.
With diesel prices climbing above $6 per gallon, farmers, truckers and small businesses across southern Minnesota are facing higher operating costs. Those expenses can also drive up prices for families. Temporarily allowing red-dyed diesel for highway use would provide relief from the state’s 32.6-cent-per-gallon diesel tax.
“Higher fuel costs affect communities across southern Minnesota, from our agricultural producers and small businesses to families paying more for everyday goods,” Sexton said. “Temporarily allowing red-dyed diesel on our highways would provide some immediate relief for our agricultural industry across Minnesota. ”
