From KARE-11,
Minnesota Court of Appeals reverses judge who threw out jury’s guilty verdicts in $7.2M Medicaid fraud case.
The judge overturned was Hennepin County’s Sarah West, appointed to the bench in 2018 by then-Democratic-governor Mark Dayton.
The case involved Abdifatah Abdulkadir Yusuf, 45 billed out of Blaine, convicted on six felony counts of Medicaid fraud.
KARE-11 reports.
The Court of Appeals reversed West’s judgment of acquittal and ordered the case returned to Hennepin County for reinstatement of all six guilty verdicts.
During the original trial, jurors also found aggravating sentencing factors that could support a sentence above Minnesota’s sentencing guidelines.
