Based on recent court filings, a third individual has been identified by name as having been present at the Edina pool disturbance of the evening of August 8.
We still have no confirmation about the nature of the underlying disturbance. We have been told that it involved a half-dozen people who refused to leave when the pool closed at 7 pm Saturday evening.
Deondre Lashawn Bishop, Jr., age 20, was named in new court filings as the victim of Tiana Hughes’, age 21, alleged violation of a domestic assault no contact order DANCO) on August 8. Violation of the DANCO order was one of three felonies Hughes is charged with in the aftermath of the pool disturbance. The other two felony counts relate to allegations of assault by Hughes against two police officers at the Hennepin County hospital later that same evening.
According to two (2) new felony DANCO violation counts filed yesterday, on August 9, Hughes made two phone calls to Bishop from the Hennepin County Jail. Allegedly, Hughes asked Bishop to put in a good word with Hughes’ parole officer before her next court appearance.
It turns out the Bishop is the father of Hughes’ 10-month-old child. A DANCO order was issued against Hughes back in May. By my count, Hughes has three current felony cases pending, which include a total of six (6) felony counts.
In addition, she faces a parole violation in her earlier double-felony conviction for vehicular homicide, dating back to a December 2021 car crash. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 8.
Bishop himself faces a felony charge for making threats of violence. The case dates back to April and appears to be unrelated to any of the above incidents.
Bishop is currently free on a $30,000 bond and has a next court appearance scheduled for September 7.
The first person to have been identified in the pool incident was one Lannie Bush, Jr., age 19. He faces an unrelated felony threats charge out of Wright County. In that case, Bush is due back in court on September 17.
On the misdemeanor charges of fleeing from Edina police, he is scheduled in court on October 29.
