Rep. Mueller Comments on February Budget Forecast

St. Paul, MN — State Representative Patricia Mueller, R-Austin, released the following statement on the February budget forecast.

“The February budget forecast shows Minnesota currently has a surplus, which is a clear sign that taxpayers deserve permanent and meaningful tax relief. When the state collects more than it needs, that money should be returned to the hardworking Minnesotans who earned it. At the same time, the forecast also projects a significant deficit in the years ahead, underscoring the need for more responsible budgeting moving forward. This contrast makes our path forward clear: provide lasting tax relief now while taking a disciplined approach to spending to avoid the looming fiscal cliff. State government must live within its means, prioritize core responsibilities, and reduce unsustainable spending so Minnesota remains financially stable for the long term.”
