KSTP reports,
Fight at St. Paul Union Depot sparks evacuation.
The Depot is, of course, the regional Amtrak station. So, what happened?
According to the St. Paul Police Department, around 9:15 p.m., police called for additional squads after a fight broke out at an event. St. Paul Union Depot has ‘Bundle Fall Market’ as the event listed for Saturday.
So we have the what: a “fight.” When: last night. Where: downtown St. Paul.
As for the who, we click on the link for “Bundle Fall Market” and get the following:
Bundle Fall Market brings together 105 Muslim-owned vendors selling food, fashion, fragrance and more, most of them young local entrepreneurs without a storefront. Visitors can sample halal food from across the Twin Cities, shop small, and spend an evening in one of Saint Paul’s most iconic spaces. The market is alcohol-free and welcomes all ages, making it a family-friendly option on Halloween night.
Family-friendly.
As for the why, it’s either an unfathomable mystery or blatantly obvious, depending on your viewpoint. More details from KSTP-5,
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS was at the scene when the evacuation was underway, and witnesses said they heard gunshots.
But police said that the crowd started running and broke glass, as it was suspected that shots were fired. Police emphasized that there was no evidence of a shooting.
Police said there were no arrests and no reported injuries.
That’s it. That’s the report. Just another Saturday night in the big city.
