Abdinasir Mohamed Abshir is scheduled to be sentenced this afternoon in federal court in downtown Minneapolis. KSTP-5 reports,
Feeding Our Future defendant facing more jail time for witness tampering.
Abshir is defendant No. 10 (out of 80, overall) in the case, a member of the Safari Restaurant group of defendants. He pled guilty back in March 2025. During a Feeding Our Future courtroom trial, Abshir was credibly accused of attempted witness tampering.
In the normal course of things, Abshir would be facing a prison sentence of 4 to 5 years based on his plea agreement. The tampering charge bumps up the range to 5 to 7 years,
Abshir’s attorney is asking for a downward departure to 4 years.
Abshir’s sentencing marks the 22nd handed down, so far, out of 69 defendants who have been convicted in the case. Two more sentencing hearings are scheduled for later in the week.
