It was reported today that U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson has resigned and that at least six of his colleagues have resigned also.

This is a hard blow to the fight against fraud in Minnesota. As I noted recently, and despite attacks from the state’s political leaders:

Thompson has skillfully used the findings of the FBI’s diligent investigations to bring criminal charges against suspected fraudsters in Minnesota, securing no fewer than 57 convictions. This is 57 more convictions than Gov. Walz’ incompetent and indifferent administration has secured, despite their lies to the contrary

Reasons for these resignations have been reported but not confirmed. Whatever they are, it is bad news for Minnesota. We thank Thompson for his work and wish him all the best.
